NEW VIDEO: Soft As Snow

Berlin-based Norwegian duo Soft as Snow are back with a transfixing new visual and a string of U.S. tour dates. If you are a fan of Smerz, you’ll most likely appreciate their shape-shifting sound that slips between avant-pop, trip hop, and experimental electronics. Their music blends dark, industrial tones with hazy sensuality, strange textures, and a haunting ambient detachment. All of that was culminating in Oda Starheim and Øystein Monsen‘s third full-length album Metal.wet, that was one of our favourite releases of 2024.

Now, the duo have shared a new visual. The video for “Bruised Dawn,” a standout from Metal.wet, is a collaboration with director Zeb Ringer. Eschewing digital effects in favor of raw, analogue tricks, Ringer manipulates mirrors, light, and everyday objects to conjure up an eerie, dreamlike world. The visuals feel both tactile and intangible, like slipping between dimensions with your eyes wide open. “As the eye is drawn in, the mind drifts—weightless—through otherworldly dimensions, hovering between what is seen and what is believed to be seen,” the band notes. Watch the video here.
