Self-proclaimed “Swamp princess” Doechii has sparked a royal debate thanks to quotes lifted from her recent appearance in ‘British Vogue.’

As reported here, Doe dazzled the cover and pages of ‘British Vogue’ for its August 2025 issue.
Between sizzling snaps rocking Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, Dior, and other designer duds, however, the GRAMMY-winning rapstress weighed in on her next album, rise to fame, and overall status of the industry.
While discussing the latter topic, Doe (born Jaylah Hickmon) revealed she doesn’t believe a true superstar has yet to emerge in this generation.
“We don’t really have a superstar of this generation just yet, because there hasn’t been enough time,” she told ‘British Vogue.’ “When I look at pop culture right now, I’m just trying to figure out, ‘OK, what does a Doechii superstar look like? What does it take to make that?’ I have no clue.”
The commentary sparked quite the social media debate, igniting many stan groups to point to their faves like as Chloe Bailey, Tyla, GloRilla, Sabrina Carpenter, Cardi B, Normani, Doja Cat, Chappell Roan, and Megan Thee Stallion as refutation of Doechii’s argument.
And though the conversation rages on, Hickmon has yet to make a public statement regarding the hoopla.
