Gorillaz have suggested that new music could be unveiled during their forthcoming 25th anniversary concerts in London later this month.

The virtual band will perform a series of four shows between 29 August and 3 September, revisiting classic albums in full. In an interview with Channel 4 presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy, co-founder Damon Albarn confirmed that the first three concerts will feature the group’s first three albums in their entirety, while the programme for the fourth date remains undisclosed.

When asked whether the unannounced fourth performance might feature new material, Albarn responded: “There might. I mean, yes. In that sense, yeah,” while fellow co-founder Jamie Hewlett offered a silent, tongue-in-cheek reaction by gesturing a throat-cutting motion off-camera.

Speculation about fresh work follows Albarn’s comments in March that a new Gorillaz album could be released this year. Such a record would be the first since 2023’s Cracker Island, which included collaborations with Thundercat, Bad Bunny and Stevie Nicks.

The anniversary celebrations also include House of Kong, an immersive exhibition described as “a journey through the band’s life of misadventures, musical innovation and ground-breaking virtual ways.” The installation is open at the Copper Box Arena, London, until 3 September.

Earlier this year, to mark the 20th anniversary of their 2005 album Demon Days, Gorillaz released archival footage of their 2006 performance at Harlem’s Apollo Theater in full. Watch HERE.
