San Gabriel is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and producer James Bookert, formerly of Whiskey Shivers. They’re preparing for the release of their upcoming album, Nights and Weekends, which will be released on August 15 on Share It Music.
Ahead of its release they have shared single “Alone In My Room”, a hypnotic chilled out blend of sounds that all add up to something colorful and vibrant. There’s a blend of chilled out vocals with funky pop grooves and electronic flourishes that all add up to something both widescreen and larger than life with a youthful spirit full of endless possibilites.
Speaking on the track, Gabriel adds:
“Alone In My Room” was written right after I left my then-band Whiskey Shivers. We had been offered a record contract, and a summer EU/UK tour. By this point in our career, our tours had devolved into over-the-top partying, and general shenanigans that I no longer wanted to be a part of. And while the shows were growing in size, it was no longer a safe or healthy environment.
