Tip of the Hat celebrating the music of Joan Baez – The Mac – Thursday, August 21 featuring Meggie, Frank Critelli, North County Duo and Denise Jones

Tip of the Hat is an ongoing showcase series presented by All Boats Rise Entertainment and Bigger Beast Records. The showcases feature national and local singer/songwriters paying homage to a legendary artist interspersed with their own original material. The performances are usually in the round with each artist taking turns singing songs from that show’s particular theme. Past Tip of the Hat shows have covered such illustrious artists as Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell.

All Boats Rise Entertainment has coordinated its effort with several impressive venues and organizations. Woodbury Brewing Company is often a preferred venue. CT Folk is also a sponsor which bestows the Tip of the Hat series some considerable exposure. Another venue and association that has taken Tip of the Hat to heart is the MAC (Milford Arts Council). Located at 40 Railroad Avenue in Milford, The Mac has already hosted a Tip of the Hat production. June featured songs from the amazing Stevie Wonder performed by four talented singer/songwriters including Kala Farnham and Laura Clapp.

This month, The Mac is once again hosting another Tip of the Hat offering. Four amazing artists will perform the music of Joan Baez, a major influence in the folk scene for many decades. The four songwriters included in this venture are Meggie, Frank Critelli, North County Duo and Denise Jones. Each artist has felt the inspiration of Joan Baez and they are all excited to create an intimate listening experience. CT Folk has fully embraced this episode of Tip of the Hat. It’s a perfect example of multiple entities working together for the betterment of the whole.

One of the missions of All Boats Rise and Bigger Beast Records is to grow a musical community where singer/songwriters can celebrate their original material as well as show reverence to their musical heroes. That is the whole concept of the Tip of the Hat series. An audience can listen to songs by artists that they hold dear and at the same time, listen to new music that may linger on forever. All Boats Rise and Bigger Beast are laying a solid foundation for up and coming talent to be able to bring their exhilarating music to the masses. That is something that has been lacking in the CT music scene for some time.

Both The Mac and Woodbury Brewing Company are perfect locations to hold these affirmative events. There will also be a Bigger Beast stage at this year’s CT Folk Festival being held at Edgeton Park in New Haven on September 6th.

Besides Tip of the Hat, All Boats Rise and Bigger Beast promote shows throughout the Northeast utilizing such venues as Lyric Hall in New Haven and Cantean Coffee and Tea in Hamden. They have also aligned themselves with several well deserved charities hosting musical fundraisers. These institutions include Family Promise of Central Connecticut and the Providence Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island. All Boats Rise and Bigger Beast Records are the wave of the future. They are run by creatives that truly care about their artists and the shows they present. All we need to do is attend their events and enjoy the vibe.
