Watch This! London punks Clobber release...

Clobber

Bored or fed up with all the Oasis mania pecking our heads at the moment? Want some insane punk bastards drilling you with a gargantuan tune instead of some same o same o indie guitar riff anthems? Look no further. Clobber fucking clobber you with this insane tune that keeps hardcore punk truly on the map. And they’re not from fecking Manchester. Read on…

Acclaimed London punk outfit CLOBBER break their silence with ‘Be Someone’, the lead single from their forthcoming EP ‘God Loves, Man Kills’ set for release on August 1st via Venn Records. The EP coincides with the band joining the roster of EU legends Stronger Bookings (Turnstile, End It) and announcing appearances at 2000 Trees Festival and Revolution Calling 5 year anniversary in the Netherlands.

‘Be Someone’ showcases the band’s evolution as a hardened touring outfit, living out of spite of life’s challenges thanks to the music they play and the community they share their scene with.

Combining their unmistakable London punk sound with fresh sonic elements that push their artistic boundaries, all three songs were produced and mixed by Matt Williams and Jack Longman (known for their work with Higher Power). Lyrically, ‘Be Someone’ deals with a very bleak time in frontman Charlie Longman’s life, as he explains with his renowned raw honesty.

“2024 started as the worst year of my life. I came back from tour to an empty flat I knew I’d be leaving. Multiple friends died, I had my first major health scare, a fucking stalker and honestly the last time the rock rolled back down the hill. Instead of thinking of going to get it I thought about throwing myself over an m25 overpass I lived near at the time. I thought about it a lot. I said nothing to my band, my family or my friends but every night I was going for long walks, and they always ended by that overpass. This also wasn’t the first time I had been visited by such thoughts in my life.”

Thankfully Charlie got the therapy and medication to put him in a better place and through the friendships and community built through Clobber, and eventually meeting his future wife, 2024 ended up much better than it started.

“There were days where I thought about staying in my room and waiting the clock out. Where it was safe. Other days I had the courage to go out and live. And those days I played amazing shows with my best friends. Traveling to amazing places I’d never set foot in before and even met my future wife, this song is really dedicated to her to be honest. And before you know it. 2024 became the best year of my life. Be Someone is about finding the courage to live again in spite of how hard it might be sometimes. To always go get the rock. To be the best version of yourself ever.”

The upcoming 3-track EP marks the band’s first release since single ‘Council Estate of Mind’ and explores themes ranging from abusive behaviour in the hardcore scene, to war crimes committed by the British Government. Recorded at Soundlab Studios in Debden, Essex, ‘God Loves, Man Kills’ captures the band more ambitious and volatile than ever.

“The EP is the heaviest, nastiest thing Clobber have ever written” says singer Charlie Longman. “We are a band that will always reflect the world around us, and it has never been nastier or heavier to live through. We get it and you’re not alone”.

‘Be Someone’ is available now on all major streaming platforms ahead of the band’s appearance at 2000 Trees festival. The EP ‘God Loves, Man Kills’ will be supported by more festival appearances including Rebellion and Revolution Calling in Eindhoven along with other UK and EU dates.

About Clobber
From playing barber shops in Soho, to tearing apart huge venues with the likes of Sick of it All, Madball, Comeback Kid and more, Clobber are cementing their name as one of the most exciting live acts in heavy music. Injecting 77′ style punk with their own brand of explosive modern hardcore, the
London bruisers target police injustice and gentrification (among other social issues) with explicit intent and musical prowess. Gold toothed front-man Charlie Longman dominates the room at every show, warning the crowd of the dangers of not looking after your mental health as well as quickly
berating hecklers with his razor-sharp wit.

Forming in late 2021, the band exploded onto the London scene with debut EP ‘Tribal Rites of the New Friday Night’ in February 2022, taking aim at the Tory party with Charlie’s ferocious vocal delivery and capturing hearts and minds in dive bars across the UK. The band quickly caught the attention of Gallows guitarist Laurent Barnard, who signed them to indie powerhouse Venn Records in February 2023. In the same year, Venn Records released the sophomore EP ‘Yesterday’s Heroes, Tomorrow’s Snide’ digitally, as well as a limited Vinyl collection of both EPs under the name

‘Violent Backbeat Noise’. Also in 2023, the band went on their first UK tour for a 17-date stint with Hellcat Records heroes Grade 2, selling out multiple dates on the run. Show offers have been coming thick and fast, with the band sharing the stage with some of the genre’s most beloved names including Incendiary, Sheer Terror, and even the original 1977 line-up of Sham 69. In 2024, the band played multiple dates with Sick of it All as well as securing debut appearances at a number of iconic festivals including Rebellion and Manchester Punk Festival. The 5 piece also released ‘Council Estate of Mind’ with Venn Records, showing greater breadth to their song writing ability and inspiring passionate sing-a-long/mic grab moments at shows across the UK. To see out the year, the band toured O2 Academy venues with Fat Wreck Chords darlings The Last Gang.

2025 sees the band breaking into Europe, joining forces with EU legends Stronger Bookings (who have helped the likes of Turnstile, End It and Comeback Kid) dropping their new EP and beginning work on a debut full length album.

As long as there’s Clobber, the spirit of punk rock is alive and well.

Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
